Lenka Holubec - Current Exhibit
Selected limited edition prints from Lenka Holubec's
photography based work Connecting with Stone are presently shown
as a part of the Circle Arts gallery's till Oct 12, 2009 exhibits.
Connecting with Stone is an ongoing project attempting to communicate
the experience inspired by intricate patterns found on ancient
rock forms. Through the rudimentary shapes, lines and textures
of the rocks constituting the backbone of lakes Huron and Superior,
Lenka is trying to contemplate and capture the essence and authentic
meaning of these magnificent artifacts.
The recurring theme of this work evolves around exploration of
the rocks that have been created millions, and in some cases billions,
of years ago. Being in a sense our chemical ancestors, these rocks
are messengers from the distant past, when we did not exist as
a species, just as they will continue their existence long after
we have gone. When closely observed, the rocks may take us on
a path reaching beyond the ordinary reality, while connecting
us to nature and a universal existence that we all are a part.
It is my belief that our capacity to understand and care for the
natural environment can be immensely nurtured through our true
and deeply felt connectedness to the natural world. The cycle
Connecting with Stone attempts to inspire others to seek and cultivate
such a connection. (Lenka Holubec)
