Oratorio Terezin
By Ruth Fazal

World Premiere in Toronto in partnership with
Holocaust Education Week
Composed by renowned violinst Ruth Fazal, Oratorio Terezin is a full length musical work scored for orchestra, childrens chorus, mixed adult choir, and three vocal soloists. Set in the context of the Holocaust, using children's poetry which miraculously survived from the ghetto of Terezin and woven together with passages from the Hebrew scriptures, this piece explores the question so many ask in the face of human suffering: "Can God be found in my place of pain?"
Over 15,000 children passed through Terezin, of whom only one hundred survived.
The work will be performed by the New Streams Symphony Orchestra conducted by Kirk
Trevor, and features Huw Priday (tenor), Daniel Lichti (baritone) and Teresa Gomez (soprano). When: Saturday, November 1st 8:00 pm
Sunday, November 2nd 3:00 pm
Where: Toronto Centre for the Arts
